Alison Pendergast


Throughout her professional career, Alison has focused on understanding the trends and harnessing the power of technology to improve access and equity in education. Over the past twenty years, she’s brought to market numerous transformative and market-leading digital learning products and held multiple executive-level operating  roles, first at Pearson Education, the world’s largest education company, and later at Ascend Learning, leading provider of educational content, software and analytics in healthcare and other high-growth, licensure-driven professions.


Prior to joining LIfeBound, Alison was co-founding member and Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Carnegie Mellon University-backed Acrobatiq – a leading adaptive learning and analytics platform acquired by Ingram Content Group in August, 2018.  Alison is a long-time advocate and frequent speaker/thought-leader on how learning science and technology can expand access and achievement in higher education and has been at the forefront developing and bringing to market numerous successful education technology initiatives including, a leading public-private partnership and platform delivering alternate textbooks to students with disabilities. She was co-developer of Coursesmart, LLC (acquired by Ingram/VitalSource); and Ascend Learning Navigate™ – a purpose-built learning platform for the trades; and JB Learning’s PUBLISH™ – a custom textbook publishing platform. For the past five years, Alison helped grow Acrobatiq from concept to delivering adaptive learning courseware to leading academic institutions.  


Alison is a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Connecticut ARMY R.O.T.C. program, and a veteran US Army Medical Service Corps Officer. She holds a Masters in Business Administration, summa cum laude, from Norwich University.
